TV reception in Yarra Junction
Free-to-air TV in Yarra Junction comes from the Melbourne main transmitter at Mount Dandenong / Mt Dandenong, 23.6 km to the WSW (bearing 254°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain VHF antenna pointed WSW and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Yarra Junction shadowed from Melbourne can use the Warburton (Vic) translator (10 km NE, UHF channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
