What TV antenna do I need in McCrae?

A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed E and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes. The regional main transmitter (Melbourne, 68.2 km NNE) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.

TV reception in McCrae

Free-to-air TV in McCrae comes from the Safety Beach local translator at Arthurs Seat, 1.6 km to the E (bearing 81°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, horizontally polarised.

A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed E and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.

Pockets of McCrae shadowed from Safety Beach can use the Rosebud translator (4 km WSW, UHF channels 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.

The regional main transmitter (Melbourne, 68.2 km NNE) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
