What TV antenna do I need in Glenvale?

A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed ENE and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes. The regional main transmitter (Darling Downs, 80.4 km NNW) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.

TV reception in Glenvale

Free-to-air TV in Glenvale comes from the Toowoomba local translator at Toowoomba, 7.7 km to the ENE (bearing 70°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, horizontally polarised.

A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed ENE and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.

Pockets of Glenvale shadowed from Toowoomba can use the Toowoomba South translator (8.3 km SSE, UHF channels 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.

The regional main transmitter (Darling Downs, 80.4 km NNW) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
