TV reception in Darling Heights
Free-to-air TV in Darling Heights comes from the Toowoomba South local translator at Toowoomba South, 3.3 km to the SE (bearing 146°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, vertically polarised.
A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed SE and mounted vertically (elements upright) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Darling Heights shadowed from Toowoomba South can use the Toowoomba translator (8.4 km NNE, UHF channels 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
The regional main transmitter (Darling Downs, 85.4 km NNW) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
