TV reception in Coolangatta

Free-to-air TV in Coolangatta comes from the Currumbin local translator at Currumbin, 3.7 km to the NW (bearing 310°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 49, 50, vertically polarised.

At this distance a high-gain UHF antenna is the standard fit; homes in dips or behind ridgelines often also need a masthead amplifier.

Pockets of Coolangatta shadowed from Currumbin can use the Currumbin translator (3.7 km NW, UHF channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 49, 50, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
