TV reception in Jewells
Free-to-air TV in Jewells comes from the Newcastle main transmitter at West Wallsend, 18.9 km to the NW (bearing 313°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain UHF antenna pointed NW and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Jewells shadowed from Newcastle can use the Belmont North translator (1.2 km W, UHF channels 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
