TV reception in Warrnambool
Free-to-air TV in Warrnambool comes from the Warrnambool City local translator at Warrnambool, 1.7 km to the S (bearing 172°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, vertically polarised.
A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed S and mounted vertically (elements upright) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Warrnambool shadowed from Warrnambool City can use the Warrnambool translator (12 km WNW, UHF channels 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
The regional main transmitter (Western Victoria, 113.3 km NNW) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
