TV reception in Princes Hill
Free-to-air TV in Princes Hill comes from the Melbourne main transmitter at Mount Dandenong / Mt Dandenong, 34 km to the E (bearing 100°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain VHF antenna pointed E and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Princes Hill shadowed from Melbourne can use the Melbourne Inner Suburbs translator (3.7 km SSW, UHF channels 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
