TV reception in Flinders
Free-to-air TV in Flinders comes from the Safety Beach local translator at Arthurs Seat, 11.6 km to the N (bearing 351°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed N and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Flinders shadowed from Safety Beach can use the Rosebud translator (11.9 km NW, UHF channels 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
The regional main transmitter (Melbourne, 76.5 km NNE) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
