TV reception in Latrobe
Free-to-air TV in Latrobe comes from the East Devonport local translator at Quoiba, 7.5 km to the WNW (bearing 300°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed WNW and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Latrobe shadowed from East Devonport can use the Port Sorell translator (12.7 km NE, UHF channels 28, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
The regional main transmitter (NE Tasmania, 86.7 km E) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
