TV reception in Chigwell
Free-to-air TV in Chigwell comes from the Hobart main transmitter at Mt Wellington, 9.5 km to the S (bearing 183°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain VHF antenna pointed S and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Chigwell shadowed from Hobart can use the Hobart NE Suburbs translator (7.7 km E, UHF channels 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
