TV reception in Stepney
Free-to-air TV in Stepney comes from the Adelaide main transmitter at Crafers, 10.5 km to the SE (bearing 137°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain VHF antenna pointed SE and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Stepney shadowed from Adelaide can use the Adelaide Foothills translator (2.9 km WSW, UHF channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
