TV reception in Ormeau Hills
Free-to-air TV in Ormeau Hills comes from the Brisbane main transmitter at BAI Comms Site 620 Sir Samuel Griffith Drive MOUNT COOT-THA / TXA Q-Site Tower 632 Sir Samuel Griffith Drive MOUNT COOT-THA / TXA T-Site Tower 445 Sir Samuel Griffith Drive MOUNT COOT-THA, 46.8 km to the NW (bearing 322°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
At this distance a high-gain VHF antenna is the standard fit; homes in dips or behind ridgelines often also need a masthead amplifier.
Pockets of Ormeau Hills shadowed from Brisbane can use the Brisbane South East translator (2.4 km WNW, UHF channels 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
