TV Antenna Installation Wallsend 2287

TV reception in Wallsend

Free-to-air TV in Wallsend comes from the Newcastle main transmitter at West Wallsend, 12.1 km to the W (bearing 274°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, horizontally polarised.

A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed W and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.

Pockets of Wallsend shadowed from Newcastle can use the Warners Bay translator (6.8 km SSW, UHF channels 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
