TV reception in Tweed Heads
Free-to-air TV in Tweed Heads comes from the Richmond/Tweed main transmitter at Mt Nardi, 46.5 km to the SSW (bearing 209°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, horizontally polarised.
At this distance a high-gain UHF antenna is the standard fit; homes in dips or behind ridgelines often also need a masthead amplifier.
Pockets of Tweed Heads shadowed from Richmond/Tweed can use the Currumbin translator (5.6 km NW, UHF channels 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 49, 50, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
