TV reception in Tahmoor
Free-to-air TV in Tahmoor comes from the Illawarra main transmitter at Knights Hill, 44.2 km to the SSE (bearing 167°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 35, 36, 38, 39, horizontally polarised.
At this distance a high-gain UHF antenna is the standard fit; homes in dips or behind ridgelines often also need a masthead amplifier.
Pockets of Tahmoor shadowed from Illawarra can use the Sydney South West translator (12.2 km NE, UHF channels 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
