TV reception in Raymond Terrace
Free-to-air TV in Raymond Terrace comes from the Newcastle main transmitter at West Wallsend, 26.3 km to the SW (bearing 235°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain UHF antenna pointed SW and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Raymond Terrace shadowed from Newcastle can use the Medowie translator (12 km NNE, UHF channels 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
