TV reception in Mudgee
Free-to-air TV in Mudgee comes from the Mudgee Town local translator at Mudgee, 0.5 km to the S (bearing 171°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain UHF antenna pointed S and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Mudgee shadowed from Mudgee Town can use the Mudgee translator (0.9 km WNW, UHF channels 40, 41, 42, 43, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
The regional main transmitter (Central Tablelands, 97.9 km SW) is generally not usable here without a high-gain installation; the translator is the intended service.
