TV reception in Lucas Heights
Free-to-air TV in Lucas Heights comes from the Sydney main transmitter at Artarmon / Gore Hill / Willoughby, 32.6 km to the NE (bearing 36°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain VHF antenna pointed NE and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Lucas Heights shadowed from Sydney can use the Woronora translator (7.6 km ENE, UHF channels 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
