TV reception in Clontarf
Free-to-air TV in Clontarf comes from the Sydney main transmitter at Artarmon / Gore Hill / Willoughby, 6.4 km to the W (bearing 266°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A standard-gain VHF antenna pointed W and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Clontarf shadowed from Sydney can use the Manly/Mosman translator (4.4 km E, UHF channels 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
