TV reception in Chifley
Free-to-air TV in Chifley comes from the Sydney main transmitter at Artarmon / Gore Hill / Willoughby, 18.1 km to the NNW (bearing 343°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, horizontally polarised.
A medium-gain VHF antenna pointed NNW and mounted horizontally (elements flat) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Chifley shadowed from Sydney can use the Kings Cross translator (10.5 km N, UHF channels 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
