TV reception in Bathurst
Free-to-air TV in Bathurst comes from the Central Tablelands main transmitter at Canobolas / Mt Canobolas, 55.8 km to the W (bearing 279°). It broadcasts on UHF (channels 28–51) channels 35, 36, 37, 39, horizontally polarised.
At this distance a high-gain UHF antenna is the standard fit; homes in dips or behind ridgelines often also need a masthead amplifier.
Pockets of Bathurst shadowed from Central Tablelands can use the Bathurst translator (4.6 km SW, UHF channels 7, 8, 10, 12, V polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
