TV reception in Dickson
Free-to-air TV in Dickson comes from the Canberra main transmitter at Black Mountain, 4.6 km to the SW (bearing 236°). It broadcasts on VHF Band III (channels 6–12) channels 7, 8, 11, 12, vertically polarised.
A standard-gain VHF antenna pointed SW and mounted vertically (elements upright) gives reliable reception for most homes.
Pockets of Dickson shadowed from Canberra can use the Weston Creek/Woden translator (14.6 km SSW, UHF channels 41, 45, H polarisation), which needs a UHF antenna pointed the other way, a common cause of "wrong antenna" reception faults after DIY installs.
