Our technician Darrel was recently called out to a property in Humbug Scrub 5114, where the homeowner was experiencing ongoing reception issues. Being in a known low signal area on the outskirts of Adelaide, the existing system simply was not coping with the weak incoming signal.
Diagnosing the Problem
On inspection, Darrel found a faulty antenna on the roof that was no longer pulling in a clean signal. Combined with an old 3-way splitter and no proper amplification, the system was struggling to deliver a usable picture to any of the TV points in the home. In a low signal area like Humbug Scrub, every component in the chain matters, and a weak link anywhere along the way will cause dropouts and pixelation across the board.

The Solution
Darrel replaced the faulty antenna with a new high-gain unit suited to the area, then swapped out the old 3-way splitter for a fresh splitter to ensure clean signal distribution to each TV point. To overcome the weak incoming signal, a new amplifier with a dedicated power supply was installed in the roof space, lifting the signal to a strong and stable level before it was distributed through the home.

The Result
With the new antenna, splitter, and amplifier all working together, signal levels were tested across every TV point and came back strong and stable. The customer now has a reliable picture across all channels with no more dropouts or pixelation, even in a notoriously tricky reception area.
