Our technician Mark was recently called out to a property in Erskine Park where the homeowner had been struggling with poor TV reception for some time. Channels were dropping out, the picture was constantly pixelating, and the signal would disappear entirely at times.
Diagnosing the Problem
When Mark inspected the roof, he found the source of the issues straight away. The property had two old analogue antennas installed, one pointed toward Wollongong and the other toward Sydney. Both antennas were well past their useful life, having deteriorated significantly due to age, weather exposure, and bird damage over the years.
The old amplifier connecting the two antennas was also damaged and no longer functioning properly. The combination of two degraded antennas, a failing amplifier, and aged cabling meant the system was delivering very poor signal quality across the board.

The Solution: Single Digital Antenna Upgrade
Mark recommended removing both old analogue antennas and replacing them with a single modern digital antenna pointed toward Sydney. With today's digital broadcasting, one well-positioned antenna is all that's needed to pull in every available free-to-air channel with a strong, stable signal.
The upgrade included a new digital antenna aligned to the Sydney broadcast towers, a new lead-in cable run using quad-shield RG6 coaxial for maximum signal integrity, and a new amplifier with a fresh power supply to ensure strong signal distribution to every TV point in the home.
The Result
After completing the installation, Mark tested all channels and confirmed optimal signal strength across the board. The customer now has a clean, reliable picture on every channel with no more dropouts, pixelation, or signal loss. A much simpler and more effective setup than the old dual-antenna arrangement.
